In this sermon we learn about Phoebe a Christian sister who ministered to Paul and many others in the early church and the example she sets for all Christian women. Men and women are siblings in the Word. Women have been equipped by God to be strong and serve publicly, but not in a church office. Women of God are to be honored and commended by the church. The church is to welcome and aid all of those who work to build up the Kingdom of God. Women and men have been created with equal value, but different duties. The two most common perversions of these doctrines are on the one extreme, feminism which is based on egalitarianism, where women take on the duties of a man, or domination where men lord it over women and they are regarded as less valuable. Both of these perversions must be rejected and clear biblical truth must be sought in our understanding of how man and women are to interact and perform their duties.
